Earn While You Learn: A Win-Win for Everyone
Our mission is simple yet impactful: hire local high school graduates, pay them while they train, and cover their education costs at Manatee Technical College. This “earn and learn” philosophy not only addresses the growing demand for skilled electricians but also provides life-changing opportunities for our apprentices.
One of our current apprentices, Joseph Berloni—a graduate from Braden River High School—is a fantastic example of how impactful this opportunity can be. Joseph, who wasn’t sure about pursuing a traditional college path, is now thriving in our apprenticeship program. He’s already gaining real-world experience by working full-time on job sites, learning critical skills, and attending night classes twice a week, all supported by New Dawn Electric.
Joseph’s story showcases exactly why we created this program. He says, “Alan and Kelly really took a chance on me,” and we couldn’t be prouder to see his enthusiasm and ambition grow each day. Joseph even plans to one day start his own electrical company and give back to the community by mentoring new apprentices—just as he’s being mentored today.
A Growing Need for Skilled Trades
The demand for skilled electricians is rising rapidly. In fact, enrollment in the electrician apprenticeship program at Manatee Technical College jumped an incredible 140 percent this year alone. New Dawn Electric is proud to be a part of this exciting growth, hiring three new apprentices each year—and we’re aiming to expand this number in the future!
