Our Story
The New Dawn Electric story is a combination of hard work, dedication, responsiveness, attention to detail, and a huge amount of faith and trust! In the beginning, Allan had 30 years of experience in the electrical trade and Kelly had 20 years of marketing and administrative experience in the health insurance industry. Two sets of complimenting strengths created a spark that would ignite into something so much bigger than either of them ever imagined.
This all just didn’t happen overnight. While their daughters were very young, Allan and Kelly decided to look for a church for them to grow up in. They found more than that though, they found Jesus in the process, or you may say, He found them. They both came to the Lord together and began their faith journey. So much was beginning to happen that blew their minds and going into business for themselves was one of them. Their community group, which they were a part of for 7 years, encouraged them to take a giant leap of faith and leave the comforts of working for others. This group helped and encouraged them to build a website, manage their finances, and combine their skills and strengths. New Dawn Electric was born! Allan was a Master Electrician and extremely knowledgeable on the technical side. Kelly brought her customer service and marketing skills, focusing on the people and the processes.
New Dawn opened its doors in Maryland in 2012 and they were off to the races for five years in a thriving and promising business. In their hearts they knew they were going to make their way back to the Bradenton/Sarasota area and were led to make that decision in 2017. Yet another opportunity to exercise their hope, faith, and trust, and start the business once again.
With passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence, New Dawn Electric creates a legacy of electrical expertise, leading the charge in innovation, customer service, and community engagement.
Fast forward to today, New Dawn Electric is a thriving business, meeting the growing demand for electricians in our community. We’ve expanded from a solely residential service company to include Remodels, New Homes, Commercial Projects, and Pools. With a fleet of ten vehicles on the road, most of our clients come through word-of-mouth and repeat business. Our strong reputation is built on our core values—Quality Craftsmanship, a Passionate Spirit, and a Helpful Heart. These principles define who we are, what we do, and how we do it.
The rapid growth has been amazing, but it’s so much more than that. Allan and Kelly are almost empty nesters now and have a work family of over 20 dedicated tradespeople and office professionals to do life with. We care about our employees and their families. Some do not have families, at least not nearby, and we make sure they feel supported and valued. We sponsor apprentices for education and training and are coming up with new ways to increase their professional development plans and goals. Together we have a lot of fun and share many laughs along the way.
Never did we imagine our ability to provide such a vehicle for the next generation to learn and grow in the electrical trade. We employ the very best and brightest technicians and they pour into the newer apprentices, mentoring them with the importance of proper technical knowledge and to have integrity in their work. We know where all of this comes from and we continue to strive to be true to Him, serve the community well and raise up the next generation of electricians. Our vision is to help save the electrical trade, which has experienced a deep decline in recent years. New Dawn Electric continues to make a way for those who have the passion for electrical work to be able to make a good living doing it, while at the same time, sharing their talents with our community. John “Allan” Quickel
Co-Founder and Master Electrician
With over 40 years in the electrical trade, Allan is a Licensed, Master Electrician and cofounder of New Dawn Electric along with his wife, Kelly. He has honed his skills through years of experience in Maryland and Florida. Allan’s expertise and experience are integral to the success of New Dawn Electric. He is committed to providing reliable and efficient electrical services, and his attention to detail ensures that every job is done right the first time. Allan works everyday to pour into the next generation of electricians by teaching them the trade and is there to guide in more complex electrical situations along with our seasoned Leadership Team of Technicians.
Kelly Quickel
Co-Founder and Strategic Planning Director
With a 20 year background in marketing and administration, Kelly focuses on keeping the customer service side of the business thriving. Responsiveness and follow through have been key to building the New Dawn Electric culture. From the first phone call to the completion of the job, Kelly ensures expectations for every job are met or exceeded. This creates a customer experience that keeps our clients coming back time and time again. Kelly’s passion is to guide New Dawn Electric into the next generation, continuing to provide the community with technicians they can count on.
